چکیده

This paper presents a simple technique for generating anisotropic surface triangulations using unstructured quadrilaterals when the CAD entity can be mapped to a logical rectangle. Watertightness and geometric quality measures are maintained and are consistent with the CAPRI default tessellator. These triangulations can match user specified criteria for chordheight tolerance, neighbor triangle dihedral angle, and maximum triangle side length. This discrete representation has hooks back to the owning geometry and therefore can be used in conjunction with these entities to allow for easy enhancement or modification of the tessellation suitable for grid generation or other downstream applications.

Unstructured Triangular - Quadrilateral Mesh Generation . Application to Surface Meshing

To start, we recall a mesh generation method, allowing to create a so called unit mesh, which is an extension of the classical Delaunay method in the case where the process is governed via an isotropic or an anisotropic control space. Then we introduce a conversion method from a triangular mesh to a quadrilateral mesh. Furthermore, we describe the generalization of this method to adaptive surfa...

Automated Structured All-Quadrilateral and Hexahedral Meshing of Tubular Surfaces

High-quality quadrilateral and hexahedral meshes of tubular structures are useful for many CAD and CAE applications in medical and industrial environments. In this paper, we propose an automated structured meshing strategy for tubular surfaces that possess multiple branches and n-furcations. From a given triangulated mesh, a centerline is extracted and individual branches are identified based o...

Physical Optics Calculation of Electromagnetic Scattering From Haack Series Nose Cone

In this paper, the physical optics method is used to study the problem of electromagnetic scattering from Haack series nose cone. First, a meshing scheme is introduced which approximates the curvature of the surface by piecewise linear functions in both axial and rotational directions. This results in planar quadrilateral patches and enables efficient determination of the illuminated region and...

Quadrilateral Meshing with Anisotropy and Directionality Control via Close Packing of Rectangular Cells

A new technique for automatically generating anisotropic quadrilateral meshes is presented in this paper. The inputs are (1) a 2D geometric domain and (2) a desired anisotropy – defined as a metric tensor over the domain – specifying mesh sizing in two independent directions. Node locations are obtained by closely packing rectangles in accordance with the inputs. The centers of the rectangles, ...

Generation of bi-monotone patches from quadrilateral mesh for reverse engineering

Thanks to recent improvements, computational methods can now be used to convert triangular meshes into quadrilateral meshes so that the quadrilateral elements capture well the principal curvature directional fields of surfaces and intrinsically have surface parametric values. In this study, a quadrilateral mesh generated using the mixed integer quadrangulation technique of Bommes et al. is used...
